17:15 Grand National Main Steeple Chase

The grandest of them all in the racing season is soon upon us, The 2019 Grand National Festival where the world's finest compete at Aintree racecourse over 3 days. This year's event takes place from April 4th with "Opening Day" until Grand National Day on Saturday 6th April, with the world famous steeplechase at 17:15.

TV Coverage
Live Coverage of this year's event is expected to be provided by ITV1 after the broadcaster secured a deal worth around £30 million to secure 4 years of TV rights for their FTA channel in the UK. The deal is thought to last until the 2020 event at Aintree. It's expected that around 500-600 million people around the world watch this race, with over 8million of those in the United Kingdom alone, making it Britain's most watched horse race.

Major races
Day 1 features the much loved Aintree Hurcle as well as the Randox Health Foxhunter's steeple chase - A great way to start the 3 day event at Aintree. Following this is #FabulousFriday (Ladies Day), where the JLT Melling Steeple Chase as well as the Randox Health Topham Steeple Chase are contested. On Saturday, it is of course, the finale; The Grand National Steeplechase itself at 5.15, contested by 40 runners and riders in the grandfather of all jump racing!
